When I created this deck, I wanted to provide inspiration to others on the path of addiction recovery. This deck includes words that made all the difference to me and others that I wished I heard. ⁠
⁠
My recovery journey (now 10+ years sober) is the very best things I've ever done and I'm crazy grateful for it. It taught me that it's the simple, consistent things I do daily that make all the difference and that I can choose a life that includes a lot of joy.⁠
⁠
People on other paths of recovery (grief, cancer, weight loss and so many other healing journeys) have also resonated with these words which is super cool.⁠

I'm sharing these with you today to remind you that the holiday season can be a very tough one for the people in your lives who struggle. Support them as best you can 💗 And know that recovery is possible 💗⁠

If we believe that things aren't happening to us but, 'for' us that changes a lot. And - if we can use our intentions to decide how we want to show up and what we what to create with with our energy and the matters at hand, that's big.⁠

If you could create some joy for yourself today, what would that look like? Remember, don't just think it, do it 💗⁠

I want you to imagine all of the things that feel like goodness. A warm fire, a belly laugh with friends, a great song or an amazing book. Whatever goodness fills you up, know what that is. And, know which wells you can go to when you need a refill. And - know the goodness in you and those around you. Celebrate it and savour it. Know all the goodness - may it fill your heart and your days 💗

My addiction recovery taught me that joy is a choice. I realized how much energy I'd put into my own self-destruction and wondered what I could do if I used that energy for good? I decided to choose joy more often.⁠

It doesn't mean life is always happy. On tough days, I've found looking for the joy even that much more meaningful. It's there if we look for it. All the simple little joys strung together - now, that's something really beautiful. I hope joy finds you today 💗
